Spiral: From the Book of Saw, stars Chris Rock as a NY Detective who works in a Department with corrupt officers. He is kind of blacklisted in the Department for whistle blowing or telling on his corrupt partner. He starts receiving mysterious packages at work from a Jigsaw copycat who is killing corrupt cops in his Department. With the help of his new partner they try to catch the killer. Samuel L. Jackson also co-stars in this film as his father and former Police Chief.
This film was just ok. As someone who was never a huge fan of the "Saw" series, outside maybe one or two films, I didn't really see what was so different about this film, vs any ordinary Saw film. You can argue the film was visually better but it still was kind of a dumb torture film in my opinion. It is the kind of film you watch it and then basically forget about it 20 minutes later.
