Coda stars Emilia Jones, as a teenage girl whose mother, father and brother are all deaf. She is the only one in her family that can hear and since her family runs a Fishing Boat business she is the one who does all of the communication. She is also really into music and singing, which is something she has never been able to share with her family as they could never hear how great her voice is. She reluctantly joins a choir group and has an opportunity to go to a music school far away from her family, which would obviously cause issues as her family has always depended on her for communicating with others. The film also Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur, and Eugenio Derbez. I
actually saw this film a while back in September of 2021 but just forgot to write a review. I really enjoyed this film quite a bit. It was funny, and very moving and touching at the same time. Having spent some time with the Deaf Community as this was my 2 years of Foreign language in college, I really had a great appreciation for this film. It is definitely one of the better films of 2021.
