Some neat little flourishes and some surprising PG-13 “gore” aside courtesy of Sam Raimi, this is absolutely the same old thing, business as usual as Marvel goes. Even worse, it’s very much one of those Marvel movies that serves no purpose other than making connections between other ventures, no beginning, no ending, empty and without purpose.
And honestly, what good do those Raimi flourishes do when they just make me wish I was watching literally any other Sam Raimi movie instead? Except for For the Love of the Game, maybe, but then again I haven’t seen it so I can’t be sure!
P.S. You wanna see a much better “multiverse” movie that also features a Bruce Campbell cameo? Check out Waxwork 2: Lost in Time. Yes, really!
