Not top-tier PTA for me, but very good stuff that I look forward to revisiting.
I will admit that the age gap gave me pause, but I think it’s because it’s so hardwired into our minds that we have to approve of everything that happens in movies now (especially when it’s done by characters we’re asked to identify with) and we’re not used to that intentional discomfort and provocation anymore.
But hey, that’s what art is supposed to do, remember? You’re not always supposed to be comfortable with it, because the complexity is what makes it good. That concept admittedly doesn’t boil down to an easy clickbait headline, though.
