Those calling Spencer a horror film with comparisons to The Shining are not far off. It really does feel like a ghost story or a Repulsion-style psychological breakdown film much of the time. A tad long, a bit scattered, but very very good.
Kristen Stewart is outstanding. A distressingly thin Timothy Spall is terrifying. Possibly the most harrowing and distressing Christmas film since Eyes Wide Shut!
