I’m sure I’m not the first person to make this joke, but it’s too bad Judd Apatow already has a movie called “Trainwreck,” because god, what an absolute waste of time this is. Great idea, great cast, but absolutely zero shape, focus, wit, intelligence, energy, forward momentum, storytelling clarity, and everything else that acts as the glue that holds a movie together, and almost a total lack of good jokes. Perhaps worst of all, it’s an absolutely endless 126 minutes.
I thought for sure that all those bad reviews were being unnecessarily hyperbolic, but it really is that bad. Did Judd Apatow just…forget how to make good comedies during the pandemic or something?
