While an amazing achievement in a technical craftsmanship sense, I found it a tough nut to crack in several other ways.
I worry that as Anderson’s films grow more and more dense and complex, they are becoming colder. The humanity and deep emotions felt in his other films, while glimpsed at here, seem very far away.
Granted, The Grand Budapest Hotel felt that way at first for me too and now I love it, so maybe it will just take some time.
