Nightmare Alley is a remake staring Bradley Cooper as a man with a dark past who take up shelter with a traveling Circus/Freak Show group. This Film Noir Thriller has an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, and Mary Steenburgen. The film is also directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Having not seen the original, and based on the trailers and the first 20 minutes of the film, I assumed this was going to be some type of supernatural Horror film but instead it was more of a Thriller. The mood of the film is very dark and there are many characters, some important, some less so. However, I really dug this film. The acting was great and there are a few twists and turns throughout the film as well. Only small gripe is that the film is maybe about 25 minutes too long. I still strongly recommend however and it is a consider for my Top 10 Films of 2021.
