Horror films already get a lot of extra credit from me, ESPECIALLY ones set around Halloween, so I’m sad to say that this did not do it for me.
I mean...it’s alright. The beginning is really fun, the two main characters are likable. There are just some parts that are so cheesy and dumb (like the toilet scene) and the “deformed people = evil” thing always turns me off. Feels exploitive and stigmatizing, and left a bad taste in my mouth.
Also, I have to admit that the fact that there is no Halloween party in HALLOWEEN PARTY was disappointing. I mean there IS, but there’s not. If you’ve seen it you know what I mean.
It was only $6.99 to purchase and I was sure I would love it so I just purchased it. Who knows, maybe I will revisit in a few years and feel differently, I’m open to that!
