Chip' n Dale: Rescue Rangers is a film about the famous Chipmunk Rangers, of the cartoon series from the late 80's/early 90's. This film is if the cartoon series was just a show and Chip and Dale are real Chipmunks. The show is now long gone, and they are no longer friends. Chip (John Mulaney) now has a regular job working in a cubicle and Dale (Andy Sandberg) is still holding on to the past and attending conventions. He has also recently gotten surgery to make himself a CGI cartoon. When one of their friends from the 80's show has been kidnapped the two chipmunks reluctantly come together to find their friend. The film boasts an all-star cast including Will Arnett, Keegan-Michael Key, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, and J.K. Simmons. What I liked about the first 2/3rds of the film is that not only is it very funny, but also it has a lot of Nostolgia from that period of time. The film plays almost like a parody and there is a cameo of almost every cartoon character in some way. Mulaney and Sanberg are great in the title role, but I also loved the voices of many other characters in the film as well. The film does lose a bit of steam in the final act however. I also think this film, although it is PG, is probably for more mature audiences as I don't think younger kids will get all of the joke references.
