Kierre's Review of The Batman 2022 ★★★★

Watched Mar 03, 2022

The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Cape Crusader in this epic, Film Noir Thriller. This film is quite different from any other Batman films in that it is more of a Detective film, as Batman is tracking a Serial Killer who goes by The Riddler. The Riddler is murdering powerful Politicians and Police Officers who he feels are corrupt, and is leaving clues and riddles for the Batman. With each clue Batman is learning the people who are being murdered have something to do with his own past. The film also stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, and Peter Sarsgaard. This is the darkest Batman film I've ever seen. This is also probably the most human Batman I've ever seen as well. Sure, he's strong and can fight, but he is also very vulnerable and gets hurt and knocked out quite a few times in this film. I loved that he was more of a Detective in this film, trying to figure out all the clues in order to capture The Riddler. I also enjoy that he didn't need to use an overly gruff voice as in previous Batman films. The film is a bit long, possibly goes on a little longer than needed, but I sure did enjoy this film. It is hard to describe this as a fun film, but it is quite entertaining. My only small gripe, besides the length, is that the conclusion was a little underwhelming as well. Other than that, I'm sold on this new series!!!
