Top Gun: Maverick is the obvious sequel to the 1985 "Top Gun" Movie Starring Tom Cruise as Pete "Maverick" Mithcell, the reckless but confident Fighter Pilot. In this film almost 40 years later, Maverick is now the same reckless Pilot but is now a Captain. He is assigned by his former training buddy "Iceman" (played by Val Kilmer) to train a group of young Pilots as they will be required to engage in a difficult and almost suicide mission to take out a couple targets within a short window of time. The mission will require not only expert flying but also the potential of being shot down by enemy missiles, and potentially engaging in a Dog Fight with more advanced fighter planes. This film boasts an All-Star cast that includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, and Ed Harris.
Let's be honest, the plot of this film is pretty basic, but it is just such a fun ride! This is a true summer Blockbuster film and quite a crowd-pleasing experience. It's loud, fast paced and the last 30 minutes will have you on the edge of your seats! I really enjoyed this film, and it is one of the best films I've seen all year!
